Dhikala in Jim Corbett National Park

Dhikala is the largest and most popular zone of Jim Corbett National Park. It covers an area of 320 sq km and is located in the heart of the park. The best time to visit Dhikala is from November to June when the park is open for tourists.

Dhikala is home to a variety of wildlife including elephants, tigers, leopards, spotted deer, sambar deer, hog deer, barking deer, wild boar, sloth bear, Himalayan black bear, langurs, monkeys, etc. The best way to see wildlife in Dhikala is on a jeep safari which can be booked through the park’s official website.

Dhikala also has a rich birdlife with over 500 species of birds present in the park. Some of the common birds that can be seen here are peafowls, kites, woodpeckers, jungle fowls, hornbills, kingfishers, etc.

Dhikala is located in the heart of Corbett National Park, which is in the state of Uttarakhand in northern India. Location & How to Reach in Dhikala

Dhikala is located in the heart of Corbett Tiger Reserve and can only be reached by safari. The best way to reach Dhikala is by jeep safari from Ramnagar, which is the closest town and the starting point for all safaris into Corbett Tiger Reserve.

Jeep safaris are the only means of transport allowed inside Corbett Tiger Reserve and must be booked in advance through the forest Department. Safari jeeps hold a maximum of 6 people (including the driver) and can be hired on a shared or private basis.

The journey from Ramnagar to Dhikala takes approximately 3 hours, passing through several different zones of the park which vary in terms of terrain, vegetation and wildlife sightings. The first part of the journey is through the Dhikala Zone, which is also the largest area of the park and where most visitors choose to stay.

Dhikala is located at the edge of a massive natural lake called Ramsar Sarovar, which makes it an ideal place for spotting aquatic birds as well as tigers and other animals coming to drink at its waters.
